There are more than a dozen excellent beaches on Phuket island with the Andaman Sea in front, some a very busy, others deserted. Most prominent is Patong Beach and the Kata Karon area. The west front beaches are better, on the east side is shallow water with swimming only at high tide. Plenty of hotels and resorts are around, main city is Phuket Town. Beside of this there is a vibrant and hot nightlife.
